NHS England has put a range of schemes into place to grow and support a sustainable primary care workforce by 2020/21.
The aim of this project, which forms part of the Targeted Investment in Recruiting Returning Doctors Pilot Scheme, is to encourage experienced doctors to return to/remain in general practice and to support those who wish to work in England as GPs.
Primarily aimed at candidates who are completing the Induction and Refresher (I&R) scheme, those on the Retained Doctor scheme scheme interested in applying for a non retained doctor GP position, and those looking to return to practice (although vacancies are open to all GPs), this website promotes flexible and exciting opportunities to GPs looking for a role which complements their work/life balance needs.
NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU) is thrilled to be working with NHS England on this project by providing marketing and recruitment support to assist practices in the Midlands and East with their GP recruitment needs. Our approach has been to really understand what potential candidates are looking for, and to work with our practices to offer and best present opportunities that meet your needs.
What you told us
140 of you responded to a survey to tell us what’s most important to you when considering a role, covering everything from professional needs, to what you look for in an area and personal/lifestyle motivations.
We’ve used this information to present the opportunities on this site in the best way, and we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what our practices have to offer…
As part of the pilot, doctors from the I&R scheme, Retained Doctor scheme and GPs who are still on the National Performers List but have been out of practice for less than 24 months, may be eligible for up to £8000 relocation allowances, travel expenses and up to £2000 education bursary to support professional development in the first 12 months. Some practices are also offering incentives outside of the scheme.
After registering your interest in a practice/role via this site, please ask the practice for more information about eligibility criteria and incentives.
