Highgate Medical Centre (Birmingham)

If you are looking for a small, family-run practice in the middle of a thriving city, Highgate Medical Centre in the heart of Birmingham could be the one for you.

A great opportunity for a GP seeking a rewarding and fulfilling role, the hard-working and friendly team enjoy working out of a new, purpose-built centre (with parking!) surrounded by a vibrant, ethnically-diverse community.

The right candidate will be someone who listens and understands and will embrace the challenge that this patient list of 4,000 brings, as well as reflecting the dedication and caring ethos of the existing team.

Run by a father and daughter lead GP team, this practice is described as being friendly and welcoming and has a strong community feel, as well as established links with outside organisations such as universities.

Looking to expand their provision, they already host and operate an impressive range of services such as an orthopaedic clinic, minor surgery and anti-coagulation service, but are continually adding to this, so those keen to develop a specialism of their own are welcome.

Highgate also has a substantial provision for chronic disease management, so someone particularly interested in this area would be urged to apply.

Highgate Medical Centre offers a flexible approach to all staff and will happily consider job sharing, late or early clinics and condensed hours without the requirement of any out of hours cover and very few home visits.

There is little admin for salarised GPs and the support of a clinical pharmacist, as well as a receptionist who is trained as an HCA, makes sure the load is kept light for GPs.

As a training practice, learning and development is encouraged with protected study time and the opportunity to develop a specialism. Training courses up to a certain amount are paid for, and GPs also benefit from full indemnity cover.
